    Brake Press Operators:

    Shift:

    6:00 am – 3:00 pm

    Pay Range:

    $22 - $27 / hour

    TheBrake Press Operator sets up, loads and removes material from the Brake Press. The Brake Press Operator will also perform general maintenance on the equipment. Additionally, they must ensure correct material is being used and check part dimension accuracy.

    In a fast paced environment, the Brake Press Operator is an integral part of the manufacturing process. They must havegood mechanical abilities and have a positive can-do attitude. A self-motivated, self-directed team player with social interaction skills, great attention to detail, can follow processes, and work well within guidelines and procedures.

    Job Description:

    • Follows written and verbal work instructions and procedures (including blueprints and schematics)
    • Make calculations and measurements necessary to shape metal to match blueprints and schematics
    • Program instructions into brake press for the necessary job using computer and software skills
    • Operate the machine to shape multiple types of metal, primarily sheet metal
    • Loads pieces of metal into the machine for shaping or straightening, aligning and positioning the material to achieve specific shapes
    • Sets up and maintains press keeping it in good working order. This may include changing the machine's oil and filters and degreasing various parts of the brake press
    • Monitor the sheet metal as it is being shaped, inspecting pieces of fresh sheet metal for imperfections and overall quality and machine malfunction.
    • Bends and identifies test pieces as instructed or specified on Order
    • Correctly identifies and marks material ensuring proper thickness
    • Place scrap in appropriate container
    • Keep work area clean, organized and safe
    • Performs miscellaneous general labor tasks with hand tools including grinding and sanding
    • Inspects finished products, products being processed, and incoming materials for conformance to company standards
    • Performs all job duties in a manner that promotes employee safety
    • The ability to work with hands, lifting and moving large pieces of metal and standing for hours at a time

    Job Requirements:

    • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience with using brake presses in a fabrication/machining environment.
    • Completion of a formal training program is preferred but not required.
    • Intermediate to advanced computer skills is preferred.
    • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
    • Ability to succeed while handling multiple tasks and responsibilities.
    • Proven problem solving abilities.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including schematics.
    • Must be able to use precision measuring instruments and gages.
    • Must have strong math and troubleshooting proficiency.
    • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
    • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and basic computer skills.
