Start a new journey and join us at Berks Homes for Under the direction of the Regional Business Analyst, the Regional Estimator provides back-office support to the regional sales, purchasing and production staffs in establishing, controlling, and analyzing homebuilding construction costs and regional profitability.


    This role is responsible for assisting with the management of a comprehensive cost control system to ensure that each home is built within budget.

    The successful candidate will have an opportunity to expand responsibilities and use the role as a path to broader regional or corporate financial analysis and management.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Issues job start packages to the frontline production staff(s).
    The job start package includes, but is not limited to the following items:


    • Issues job schedules based on Regional Start Schedule
    • Reviews/edits/issues purchase orders to Vendors and Trade Partners
    • Uploads current budget by lot/community
    • If applicable, sends paper copy job start packages to trades partners that do not utilize our virtual back-office support system (ITK)
    • Issues variance purchase orders
    • Processes invoices for non-PO or VPO services or products
    • Helps maintain framing trade partner allocation schedule
    • Assists Regional Business Analyst and regional production staff with vendor/trade partner allocation
    • Provides support to vendors and trades partners for our back-office management system (ITK)
    • Tracks and communicates base estimate omissions and/or adjustments needed with corporate estimating team
    • Supports the Regional Business Analyst in analyzing and controlling construction costs and profits for all communities and homes within the Region
    • Notifies Regional Business Analyst and/or Corporate Purchasing when there are major supply chain issues with specified products
    • Provides feedback to Regional Business Analyst to help eliminate VPO's
    • Supports sales team with custom price requests as needed
    • Assists in maintaining vendor/trade partner master files
    • Other duties as assigned
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred
    • Familiarity with databases preferred
    • 2 years' experience in the residential home building industry, preferably with a focus on financial analysis, cost control and/or estimating/budgeting required
    • Exceptional Problem-Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills required
    • Outstanding written and oral communications, tactful and diplomatic conflict resolution required
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate and manage trade partners required
    • Prior management or supervisory experience required
    • Focus on conducting work in an ethical manner required
    • Highly Driven and organized with excellent attention to detail required
    • Ability to complete assignments/fulfill responsibilities on time with little or no supervision required
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level required

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Professional office setting. The candidate is expected to work consistent hours and to seldom be absent from work.
    • This position requires later hours, which may include evenings and weekends to cater to the workload.
    • Some travel required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Primarily seated. At times, this position may require bending, squatting, kneeling, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Occasionally, there may be lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Frequently, you must be able to read and comprehend, write effectively and professionally, perform analysis and calculations, construct detailed spreadsheets and orally communicate with all levels within the organization.
    • The main equipment/machinery used is the computer, telephone, printer, and scanner.
