Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney

Zurich seeks a successful Workers' Compensation Defense Trial Attorney to work in our Fresno Staff Legal Office or fully remote anywhere in Northern California.

The Attorney will represent the Company in all phases of Workers' Compensation litigation in Northern California, practicing law in compliance with state ethical standards. Responsibilities include:

Collaborating with claims professionals on legal analysis and advice.
Preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents.
Conducting legal research.
Preparing for and conducting pre-trial discovery.
Representing the Company at final hearings before the workers' compensation judge.
Engaging in post-trial activities as needed.

The attorney will work independently with limited direction, utilizing specialized knowledge to manage complex assignments in the area of Worker's Compensation Litigation.

Essential Qualifications:

Juris Doctor degree and 5+ years of experience in Worker's Compensation Litigation.
Member in good standing of the California State Bar Association.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe.
Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw.
Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.
Understanding of law and procedure.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience working in a team-based environment.
Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.

Compensation varies based on factors including office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The starting salary range for this position is $140,000 - $165,000.
