Controller/Director of Finance and Risk Management - Washington DC, United States - Squishable

Description

The Controller/Director of Finance position works with the Chief of Operations to oversee the financial operations of our growing business
Oversees the entire bookkeeping & finance function of the organization, including managing a team of in-house and outsourced bookkeeping, A/R and A/P staff
Responsible for day-to-day higher-level complex bookkeeping and accounting tasks
Creates workflows and best practice processes to handle high volumes of cash and credit card sales transactions
Ensures proper maintenance of the accounting functions in Netsuite, Squishable's ERP system
Reports sales & use tax to multiple jurisdictions
Manage the data flow between numerous payment processing systems, including Square, Stripe, CyberSource, and Paymentech and Netsuite
Prepares and communicates of monthly and annual financial statements
Oversees cash flow planning and ensures availability of funds as needed
Oversees financing strategies/activities and banking relationships
Assesses existing operations for opportunities to automate processes, presents to firm leadership compelling ROI analyses to support proposed automation efforts, and oversees projects to successful implementation
Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
Ensures legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
Other financial duties as determined by the needs of the organization
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Management, or a related field
At least three years experience managing a financial function using Netsuite or similar GAAP-certified accounting software
Strong analytical skills for detailed account reconciliations
Comfort with ambiguity and creative problem-solving
