    Job Summary:

    In accordance with written and oral instruction, set-up and operate all shop machines, tools and equipment such as drill press, lathe, turret lathe, shaper, bridgeports, surface grinders, and milling machines. The work is special, prototype, short run in nature and usually close and exacting

    Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Authorities

    Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
    • Measures, marks, and scribe's dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
    • Effectively use shop packages to include, but not limited to, manufacturing orders, bills of materials, routings, part prints, job layouts and quality alerts.
    • Use of grinding tools to meet varying conditions or materials.
    • Setting of proper feeds and speeds
    • Working to any tolerance specified within equipment limits.
    • Maintenance of die sets
    • Work-in-progress is done with little supervision.
    • Final inspection on one's own work
    • Instruct others on the use of equipment.
    • Keep equipment and area clean, orderly, and safe.
    • All other duties as assigned
    Qualifications

    Knowledge of:

    Basic Shop Math

    using measuring devices, such as micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gages, and other inspection devices as needed.

    Must be able to read blueprints and use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices

    Skills/Ability to:

    Effective communication skills

    Ability to read blueprints.

    Some judgement required to ensure performed assigned duties correctly and safely for self and others

    Concentrated mental and visual attention and manual dexterity required

    Acceptable Experience or Training:

    1-3 years previous experience preferred

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    High school diploma or GED.
