    Description
    Job Title: Senior Director of Accounting

    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Accounting with a player/coach approach to manage the Accounting Department. He/she will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, implementing internal controls, and identifying/implementing process improvements. He/she will partner closely with the CFO primarily and the rest of the C-suite team to help fulfill company goals and objectives.

    Scope of Responsibilities

    Controllership / Accounting:

    Partner with the CFO to
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, transactions, and financial statements in compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
    • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
    • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
    • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes including cost reduction strategies.
    • Manage the cash flow ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs and optimizing cash management.
    • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with audit and tax requirements.
    • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations, financial reporting standards, and industry best practices, and ensure their implementation.
    Property Management:
    • Establish a holistic understanding of Granite operations and managed properties in order to better address the needs of both tenants and property owners
    • Support Market Presidents to provide timely information on requests originating from Property Owners
    • Lead Accounting team in supporting property transitions including adding new properties for management, transitioning existing properties from other property management companies, and properties exiting the portfolio
    • Stay abreast of the latest accounting rules and theories as it relates to property management operations
    • Actively provide feedback, input, and recommendations concerning accounting practices and strategies to better Granite overall
    Human Resources:
    • Oversee 3rd party relationships including dedicated HR Director and vendors for benefit enrollment
    • Evaluate each staff member's performance to ensure humility, integrity, and accountability while being efficient and productive. Additionally, work alongside the Accounting Managers to gain feedback for use in compensation/annual reviews.
    • Guide and support accounting staff using expertise, experience, and understanding
    Flexibility:
    • Capacity to work overtime during periods of high volume activity
    • All other duties, as assigned
    Education Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar degree required
    • MBA w/ Accounting focus, MA in Accounting, CPA, or CMA preferred
    • 6-10 years of relevant experience required
