JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Engineering Designer will develop creative and technically superior engineering design solutions appropriate to each project assigned.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops design concepts for parts and assemblies
Creates detailed CAD models of parts and assemblies
Develops product documentation that supports high quality production
Employs DFM, DFA and DFQ
Attends and participates in meetings with clients
Objectively observes and understands user research inputs
Stays abreast of new and evolving technologies as assigned
Proposes process changes to improve quality, cost and schedule
Manages deliverables and timing for self
Delivers products that meets Kaleidoscope's standards and when appropriate, international standards and regulations
Excellent team member and collaborator

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Associates Degree in Engineering Technology, Design, Drafting or related fields
5-10 years of professional experience in design, drafting and product development

Knowledge/Abilities
Good problem solving skills
Proficient with SolidWorks 3D CAD
Intermediate knowledge in geometric tolerance analysis
Proficient in documentation, dimensioning and specification writing
Intermediate skills in model shop processes and equipment
Intermediate skills in manufacturing processes and tooling requirements
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Detailed oriented work style and service
Intermediate ability to work and think in a methodical and logical way
Intermediate ability to prioritize and complete tasks in order to deliver desired outcomes within allotted time frames
Intermediate ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients
Willingness to take direction from others and to accept constructive feedback while being adaptable and flexible

WORKING CONDITIONS

Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
Moderate lifting and carrying of supplies, equipment, files, etc.

Work typically performed in an office, a laboratory setting, and a prototyping shop with hand tools and small machining equipment.
