    Overview

    Reporting to the President of Sharp Home Electronics Company of America (SHCA), the Vice President (VP) of Product Marketing leads and oversees Sharp's U.S. consumer product portfolio across both home/kitchen appliances and televisions. As the VP of Product Marketing, you must be a visionary leader, a data-driven strategist, and a hands-on collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You'll have responsibility for defining and developing new products manufactured internally and sourced, designing and executing the product marketing strategy, overseeing the product launch process, managing the product positioning and messaging, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-centric solutions. You will also be in charge of hiring, training, and mentoring product marketers, as well as setting and tracking key performance indicators for the product marketing function. This position is an in-office role, based in Montvale, NJ with regular domestic and periodic international travel.

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Vision & Leadership
    • Set strategic direction, provide thought leadership, and manage the product marketing team in its mission to provide a compelling, competitive product line-up across home appliances and televisions in the United States.
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive product marketing strategy aligned with business objectives, market opportunities and brand vision.
    • Be an active member of the extended leadership team by co-developing strategies to achieve SHCA profitability and growth, with specific responsibility for the role product marketing will play in fulfilling these strategies.
    • Stay ahead of industry trends, identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities.
    • Lead the product marketing team, fostering collaboration, growth, and development.
    • Actively engage in the team's day-to-day operations and implement necessary improvements in management systems, human resources, and administrative processes, for more effective and efficient operations.
    • Represent the company as a thought leader in dealer meetings and at industry events and conferences.
    Product Planning
    • Guide the product planning team in the development of a comprehensive product road map across multiple sub-categories that is consistent with Sharp's goals and corporate initiatives. Impact feature specifications, industrial design and user interface (both product and SMART connectivity applications).
    • Oversee the development of new products to address specific channels and sales potential that has not been otherwise identified.
    • Manage product development schedules for timely and effective product launches.
    • Identify how unique Sharp technologies and product strengths can be utilized to drive new products that target satisfying unfulfilled consumer needs.
    • Recognize marketplace trends and analyze 3rd party forecasts, sell-in and sell-through data. Incorporate findings into development of go-forward strategy as well as the assessment of past performance.
    • Supervise the teams' competitive analysis, identifying threats and opportunities. Communicate competitive analysis to the sales team and product factories on a regular basis. Utilize competitive data as well as price trends to specify retail price and margin requirements for all products in a marketing plan.
    • Oversee the product sourcing function and Sr. Director of Sourcing to identify, develop and manage product sourcing relationships with overseas OEM partners for major appliances.
    • Work closely with Sharp's domestic factory (SMCA) in Memphis, TN on new product planning and design.
    Product Marketing
    • Set the overall marketing direction through the development of a detailed category marketing plan with the goal of achieving sales and profit objectives and improving brand image.
    • Oversee the development and execution of product launches, ensuring smooth transitions and successful market reception.
    • Serve as an executive product evangelist in working with the sales team and visiting retail accounts to communicate product roadmaps, perform new product demonstrations and secure placements. Gather market information to support the product-planning process.
    • Set category marketing objectives, including product messaging that clearly communicates product value propositions and differentiators.
    • Working hand-in-hand with the brand marketing team, articulate needs for multi-channel marketing campaigns (digital, traditional, PR, etc.), driving awareness, consideration, and purchase.
    • Partner with sales and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and optimize product communication.
    • Approve the initiation, planning and execution of all promotional activities including IRs, product bundles, contests, SPIFFs, etc. to promote sell through at retail.
    • Approve dealer programs, pricing, margin, etc. for all accounts as recommended by the product marketing team.
    • Oversee the preparation of turn-key product presentations for sales organization and dealer meetings on an on-going basis. Prepare and issue regular product update communications to the Sales organization.
    • Monitor channel inventory and weeks of supply. Recommend and take appropriate actions on a timely basis to address deviations from plan.
    • Represent and present product line at dealer previews, line reviews, national meetings, and trade events.
    • Identify internal and external product training needs and ensure coverage.
    Budget & Resource Management
    • Working with the Associate VP of Business Planning and Sharp Japan BUs, set semi-annual budgets, aligning on the key metrics of sales, profitability, and inventory levels.
    • Oversee the monthly P/S/I (purchase/sales/inventory) process to best ensure achievement of KPIs.
    • Effectively manage the product marketing budget to achieve objectives.
    • Allocate resources strategically to maximize return on investment.
    • Identify and implement marketing technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Approve product marketing expenditures in accordance with delegation of authority rules of SEC and Sharp Corporation.
    General
    • Serve as a senior managerial liaison between SHCA, SMCA, SSG, Sharp Japan, Sharp factories, and international sourcing suppliers.
    • Host monthly review meetings with the SHCA president, reporting on all aspects of product marketing operations and performance through a suite of reports (scorecards, dashboards, etc.).
    • Be available regularly for evening calls with Sharp Japan Appliance and TV business units.
    • As requested, assist the SHCA president in any assigned special projects.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree. MBA a plus
    • 10+ years of experience in product marketing with a proven track record of success in the home appliance, consumer electronics or similar B2C environment.
    • Procurement-related experience including contract negotiation, RFQ process, and price negotiation a plus.
    • Proven agility and adaptability in working for a multi-national company a plus.
    • Strong project management and process skills.
    • Excellent negotiation skills.

    • Strong leadership / interpersonal / communication skills in building, leading and motivating a team.
    • Demonstrated business / financial acumen.
    • Ability to get things done in a matrixed organization.

    • Mastery of Microsoft Office especially Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
    • TRAVEL: 20% - 25% travel, domestic and international.

    Compensation for this position

    The compensation range for this role is $200,000- $225,000. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
