    The Angiography/Special Procedures Technologist will assist the Licensed Practitioner in the completion of fluoroscopic and specialized interventional and Neuro-Interventional procedures while using sterile technique. They prepare, administer and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations or facility policy.

    Job Details

    • 8 or 13-week travel contract
    • Shift: Day 5x8 (7:00-15:30)
    • Start ASAP or as soon as cleared
    • Call would be every third day and the third weekend

    Essential Job Functions

    • Obtains and verifies patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
    • Provides accurate explanations and instructions effectively to the patient and their care providers and addresses questions and concerns regarding the procedure.
    • Determines all procedural requirements are in place to achieve a quality procedure.
    • Assists Licensed Practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional and neuro-Interventional procedures.
    • Administers contrast with a power injector as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
    • Adheres to radiation safety rules and standards by applying principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
    • Selects and operates the imaging equipment and/or associated equipment to achieve desired results.
    • Verifies informed consent and completes pre, procedural and post procedure documentation.
    • Completes timeouts as required per policy.
    • Assesses patient risk for allergic reaction to contrast media prior to administration and can assist in the initial treatment of its adverse effects associated to its administration.
    • Uses PACS (picture archival communication system) and other facilities systems with proficiency. Is aware of downtime procedures.
    • Educates and monitors students and other health care providers
    • Receives, relays and documents verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient's medical record
    • Maintains inventory and notifies appropriate personnel when supplies are needed.

    Licensing/Certification

    • Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
    • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
    • ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support- American Heart Association (preferred)
    • Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) (preferred)
    • Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) (preferred)
    • California licensure required
    • CRT Certificate

    Education/Training

    • Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)
    • Must have experience performing Line Placements, Angiograms, Kyphoplasty, Percutaneous Nephrostomy Exam
