    Project Overview

    Driftwood LNG (DWLNG) is a liquefied natural gas production and export facility on the west bank of the Calcasieu River near Sulphur, Louisiana. The facility will include 5 liquefaction plants capable of producing up to a maximum of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG for export. The project will also include 3 full containment LNG tanks and 3 jetties that will support LNG carriers.

    Unless otherwise indicated, applicants for construction positions must have heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below.

    Position Summary

    The Construction Equipment Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the equipment department. Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate supervisors and others, as assigned. Ensures all construction equipment is maintained & fueled properly, is safe to operate and within schedules and budgets. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory shop positions.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to their department. This includes preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings.
    • Ensure that all site services (Indirects) operations comply with applicable Bechtel procedures, OSHA standards, and federal, state, county, and local regulations, customer and project-specific requirements.
    • Engages in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and signing FLHA cards for rigging activities.
    • Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings and prestart safety meetings.
    • Ensures that assigned personnel are properly qualified for their task; that they are trained, competent and aware of their responsibilities, and are complying with all applicable standards, requirements, and safe practices.
    • Inspect site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct breaches.
    • Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.
    • Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy. Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
    • Responsible for maintenance of all fleet equipment and enforces service work orders are completed accurately.
    • Responsible for all equipment fueling activities.
    • Have the ability to troubleshoot, direct, and assist with repairs of fleet equipment.
    • Determines workforce requirements.
    • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
    • Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.
    • Approves craft time records using established automated tools.
    • Orders filters, oil, grease, def, fuel and other consumables as required.
    • Prepares list of tools and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to do the job safely and productive.
    • Audits subcontractors or vendors equipment to ensure compliance with project specific requirements.
    • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
    • Coordinates activities with other disciplines and vendor resident representatives.
    • Performs employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
    • Ensures that local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with.
    • Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Basic Qualifications

    • Knowledge of multi-discipline construction and or operating functions - Knowledge of Zero Accident Philosophy.
    • Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan.
    • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
    • Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
    • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications (PEMS).Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.

    Additional Qualification

    • Must have knowledge of the following equipment (or equivalent) : Earthmoving Equipment, Liebherr, Manitowoc, Terex, Tadano and Grove cranes, Forklifts, JLG and Genie Manlifts, along with Caterpillar, Volvo, Cummins, Kubota, John Deere, Isuzu and Perkins Engines.

    Additional Information

    • Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
