    Description

    Reporting directly to the Associate Warden, this position will provide supervision for subordinate staff regarding their assigned tasks with male offenders in a Medium Custody State Corrections Facility.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


    • Supervising subordinate staff.
    • Conducting shift line up, making shift assignments and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
    • Completing reviews and maintaining employee time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms,
    • Ensuring that all assigned equipment is operational, providing daily inspection of offenders living areas, medical, kitchen areas and the facility to identify possible safety hazards and ensuring the operation is running smoothly.
    • Identifying training needs and coordinating delivery of training to subordinate staff
    • Conducting interviews and investigations, searches of staff, visitors and offenders for contraband and responding to emergency situations as needed.
    • Serving as Officer-In-Charge of the Facility.
    This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits.

    This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available June 1, 2024.

    About the NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):


    DAC is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.

    This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.

    Other divisions include Administration, Compliance and Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs and Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation and Reentry.

    Richmond Correctional Institution is located in Hoffman, North Carolina and houses up to 420 male offenders in a medium custody facility.

    High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant

    Or

    Two years of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant II

    Or

    An equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Necessary Special Qualifications:
    Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
