    Job Responsibilities

    With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

    This position is located at the Berkeley Community Mental Health Center, 403 Stoney Landing Rd., Moncks Corner, SC 29261
    You will perform semi-routine or diversified counseling and case management functions for individuals with behavioral and/or emotional mental health issues. Counseling clients in individual or group sessions to assist them in dealing with mental illness and/or other difficulties in individual, family, vocational, social, or other life crises. Counseling or aiding family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting the client.

    You will assist in developing and implementing treatment plans. Guide clients in the development of skills or strategies towards achieving and maintaining good mental health. You will conduct and lead discussion groups dealing with a variety of family and individual concerns. Participate in treatment team meetings. Assist in the planning and execution of mental health education programs for the general public. Performs specialized educational and training functions within the clinical setting as designated.

    ACT, or Assertive Community Treatment, is an evidence-based model that serves adults (18+) living with the most debilitating mental illnesses who need the most intensive in-home services. The model consists of a multidisciplinary team that shares caseloads and serves each patient multiple times a week in their homes. ACT teams are valuable at preventing patients who are most at risk from needing treatment in emergency departments and hospitals statewide and reduce the probability that such patients become involved in the criminal justice system.
    Minimum and Additional Requirements

    State Minimum Requirements:
    A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences, or a related field

    Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements:Must be licensed as a Addiction Counselor in SC, or Master Addition Counselor.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
