    Job Summary


    The Director of the Student Success Advising Center will report to the associate dean in Student Success and will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the Student Success Advising Center.

    The director will hire, train and lead the Center's staff as they provide holistic and comprehensive advising and coaching services to GGC students.

    The director will maintain and assess the Center¿s operations and ensure essential standards of advising and coaching consistency and quality are met as part of the college's efforts to improve retention, increase graduation rates, and better serve our students.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct and manage the daily operations of the Student Success Advising Center while providing leadership, support, and supervision to the Center staff.
    • Oversee recruitment, hiring, and training of Center staff.
    • With guidance from the associate dean, develop and maintain the Student Success Advising Center¿s budget, records, and procedures.
    • Collaborate with other offices on campus to create, maintain, assess, and modify student success initiatives related to advising and coaching.
    • Establish, maintain, and assess Center practices, making data informed decisions to improve programs, processes, and procedures.
    • Work with the associate dean to implement and oversee technology and reporting systems related to advising, to include troubleshooting and making recommendations.
    • Advise an appropriate load of students.
    • Teach the GGC First Year Seminar course as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Required Qualifications

    Educational Requirements

    Minimum Graduate Degree Master's

    Required Experience

    8 or more years of relevant experience

    5 or more years of supervisory experience

    Graduate Degree Doctorate

    Preferred Experience

    Direct experience leading staff in an advising center in a higher education setting

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


    SKILLS
    Strong ability to build and lead a team and manage tasks to support program and college goals

    Extensive knowledge of student development theory, trends, issues and best practices relevant to advising and ability to apply the knowledge to improve advising practices and support student success

    Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish and grow trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and collaborators from diverse backgrounds

    Ability to apply knowledge of campus organizational structure and departmental services to provide student support

    Understanding of how to develop or implement professional development for academic advisors

    In-depth knowledge of assessment practices and ability to interpret data to make informed decisions

    Extensive knowledge and understanding of the GGC academic programs and degree requirements

    In-depth knowledge of GGC and USG policies, procedures, and student success initiatives

    Expert knowledge of and ability to use advising related technologies, such as DegreeWorks, Banner, and others
