    DIRECTOR, QUALITY ASSURANCE & ENVIRONMENTAL
    • CANNERYOVERVIEW:The Director, Quality Assurance & Environmental will be responsible for maintaining and implementing all Quality and Food Safety programs and oversees Environmental Compliance, which ensures adherence to laws, regulations, or standards governing organizational impact on the environment.
    The role will have direct oversight of environmental requirements across the organization and enforce all quality regulations and food safety protocols within the Teasdale Latin Foods cannery production facilities, acting as the Food Safety Team Leader and primary SQF Practitioner.


    WHAT YOU'LL DO:


    Responsible for implementation, documentation, control, and maintenance of a detailed Quality Manufacturing System (QMS), to include Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and "Food Safety Culture".

    Responsible for the management of the SQF system, HAACP food safety plan, and responsible for having an understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code:

    Food Manufacturing and the requirements to implement and maintain an SQF System relevant to a site's scope of certification.

    Works to maintain and improve the safety, legality and quality of each food product and the processes used in their manufacture.

    Responsible for meeting and exceeding customer requirements and effectively communicating with customers as requested or required.

    Responsible for investigating customer/consumer complaints for foods manufactured on site using root cause analysis, determining corrective actions and preventive measures, responding to complaints in the required timeframe, and analyzing complaint trends.

    Clearly communicates food safety and quality objectives with production, maintenance, sanitation departments, and external contractors.

    Responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues, corrective actions, and preventive measures to the plant management team(s).Responsible for ensuring training is effective for operations, sanitation, and maintenance staff in basic food hygiene, GMPs and other food safety and quality requirements.

    Responsible for monitoring and adherence to Quality Assurance budget.
    Measures plant process capabilities, sampling plans, and statistical analysis to ensure compliance.

    Authorized to hold and release product based on food safety or quality non-conformanceEnsures a daily food evaluation is conducted to identify possible defects and provide direction for improvement.

    Ensures physical plant inspections are conducted on a regular basis and reports are generated on each area (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.).Contract review, approval, and performance monitoring of external suppliers/services relating to QA.Manage customer and third-party plant audits.

    Oversees analysis of environmental samples, reviews interpretation of findings, and suggests and oversees implementation of corrective actions or risk mitigation strategies.

    Investigates allegations of compliance violations by employees or company representatives.
    Acts as the company representative during inspections by external authorities or governing bodies.
    Develops and delivers environmental compliance-related training sessions.
    Interprets legislation or pending legislation and develops strategies for ensuring organizational compliance.
    Responsible for the day-to-day management of the cannery production Quality Assurance team, including training and development of QA staff.
    Manages a team of QA / Sanitation Supervisors, Quality Specialists, and hourly quality technicians. Remotely manages QA Manager and team.


    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:


    Extensive experience with leading teams in food safety and quality10 plus years of leadership experience in food manufacturing, service, processing, and/or distribution environment required.

    A bachelor's degree in a related field (Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering) is required. A master's degree is preferred. Food Safety certifications are preferred.
    Demonstrated expertise in analyzing information, reporting research results, promoting process improvement, developing standards, managing processes, manufacturing methods and procedures.
    Strong analytical and critical thinking and ability to convert vision into developing and executing a roadmap. Must address problems directly and transparently.

    Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills desiredStrong technical background, including understanding Food Safety, HACCP, GMP, SOP, SSOP, sanitation principles, regulatory compliance, and auditing systems.

    Creative problem-solving with the ability to recommend and implement solutions, relationship-building, and decision-making skills.
    Outstanding people and relationship-building skills and ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
    Proven Ability to coach, provide feedback, and develop a team.
