- Transport patients, laboratory specimens and equipment to specified areas as directed using wheelchairs, hand carts and mobile beds; escort patients from Admitting Office to designated nursing units.
- Shave and apply antiseptic solutions to designated skin areas of patients as required. Assist physician and/or paramedical staff personnel by positioning, restraining and draping patients with sterile sheets as directed.
- Maintain supplies at established levels in operating room area such as linen, solutions and surgical gowns as necessary; completes and submits requisition orders to Supervisor for expendable items as required.
- Performs routine maintenance on wheelchairs and various orthopedic equipment items. Effect removal of expired patients by completing identification tag, taking inventory of personal valuables; refer valuables to Supervisor; prepare body for transporting to morgue.
- Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patients and other personnel. Performs other duties as required.
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
- At least six (6) months experience as a CAN or Hospital Aide in an acute care setting or equivalent.
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
