    Description

    Ralph L Wadsworth is looking to hire a Grading Foreman in Kuna, ID

    The Foreman will be responsible for supervising dirt crews for earthwork / roadway / and grading projects. A dirt foreman will be assigned to a variety of jobs ranging from heavy highway, main roadway (subgrade treatment, base course and fin grading) work, and street improvements. Work can involve excavation, grade work, surveying and final excavating work on all types of heavy equipment. A dirt foreman will also operate large and small equipment and perform general laborer work when required. A dirt foreman will oversee the work of dirt operators, laborers and others.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervises field operations for an Earthwork/Roadway/Grading project
    • supervise and coordinate activities of grading crew and may also engage in the trade work of the employees being supervised
    • Operate all types of heavy equipment for dirt and site projects.
    • Knowledgeable in the areas of dirt work, including excavation, grade work, surveying and final excavating work.
    • Read, understand, interpret and enforce safety policies and practices.
    • Examines blueprints to determine dimensions of structure.
    • Lays out floor-plan/worksite as needed.
    • Determines sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure.
    • Assigns workers to tasks
    • Inspects work performed by subordinates to ensure conformance with specifications.
    • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
    • Shoot grades with level and with some knowledge of GPS
    • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
    • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to increase efficiency of work crew.
    • Analyzes and resolves work problems, assists workers in solving work problems, and initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
    • Maintains time and production records.
    • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
    • Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job including basic understanding of equipment limits and designed purposes.
    • Ability to read and understand a two-week construction schedule.
    • As directed by the Superintendent, assists with ordering supplies, completing reports, and collecting, reviewing and submitting time cards, etc.

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of 5 years of supervising / crew leadership experience
    • A minimum of 8 years of experience of dirt and grading work (subgrade treatment, fine grading).
    • A minimum of 8 year (overall) of operating large heavy equipment experience
    • A minimum of 8 years of main roadway / highway construction experience required
    • Work Safely
    • Be able to carry 70 lbs. or more – frequent cross body movements such as bending, climbing, twisting, balancing, stooping, etc.
    • High School diploma/GED preferred.
    • Flexible availability to include overtime and weekends.
    • Valid Driver's license
    • Know how to shoot grade with level and some knowledge of GPS
    • Good eye to hand coordination a must. Depth Perception required.
    • Experience find grading with various pieces of equipment
