    Job Description

    Responsibilities:
    • Conduct field clerical tasks reading electric and water meters with precision and accuracy.
    • Maintain records of meter readings, reporting any anomalies promptly.
    • Ensure proper installation and functionality of meters, reporting any issues for resolution.
    • Perform re-reads and clean meter boxes when necessary.
    • Drive meter readers to assigned routes and provide support as needed.
    • Adhere to OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies at all times.
    • Assist in maintaining records and cleaning vehicles, tools, and equipment.
    Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Experience in meter reading is a plus.
    • Ability to handle customer interactions tactfully and follow instructions effectively.
    • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use tools and equipment.
    • Capability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
    • Valid North Carolina Driver's License and good driving record essential.
    • Computer experience is advantageous.
    Special Requirements

    Physical Requirements
    Visual Acuity, Hearing/Speaking abilities, Depth perception, and Field of Vision are crucial for this role. Physical strength required for lifting and carrying meters. Proficiency in Reaching, Handling, and Fingering tasks is essential.

    Mental Activity/Requirements
    Logical reasoning, Mathematics, and English Language skills are necessary.

    Environmental Conditions
    Working outdoors in various weather conditions and exposure to hazards are part of the job. Knowledge of operating specific tools and equipment is required.
