    We are looking for a Sr Metallurgist to work in our SLC office. This Sr Researcher role is essential to the ongoing development of processes and equipment for the ongoing R&D projects in Precious Metals Recovery. This position is one of high impact, visibility, and engagement with GPLM /PLM and various customer partners involved with developing the next generation of process and equipment solutions for the concentration and recovery of Gold, Silver, and other precious metals.

    The Sr Metallurgist is both researcher and project manager for their own projects. Organizes and develops project opportunities in conjunction with GPLM for Precious Metals, engineering, and other stakeholders.

    Responsibilities
    • Ensures that research and development methodologies meet established scientific and engineering standards
    • Provides input to business plans and budgets for product development
    • Analyses quality/safety test results to ensure compliance with internal and external standards
    • Monitors product development outcomes to ensure technical, functional, cost, and timing targets
    • Contributes to the development of solutions to complex technical challenges and leads research and development evaluations, designing and providing recommendations for stakeholders. Projects may include research and technology development for new concepts or improvements and optimization of existing/current products in the minerals processing industry.
    • You may work independently or lead teams and projects from idea to commercialization, with specific experience in minerals processing.
    • Directs research tasks, concept development, design and design verification, and validation across the whole project life cycle, ensuring task completion and budget management.
    • Designs solutions with multiple technical disciplines, including mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics, process engineering, electrical and automation engineering, and others.
    • Continuously seeks new innovations and ideas for the products and processes within the FLSmidth portfolio by researching and developing solutions and technologies leading to full commercialization.
    • Leads or completes technical reports, design calculations, product modeling, manufacturing drawings, product manuals, parts lists, and other necessary technical documentation for the project by engaging with other experts and project resources and by utilizing state-of-the-art engineering and analysis tools with high-quality and in a timely manner.
    What you bring
    • BA/BS
    • 5 years experience in similar positions
    • Expertise in minerals process metallurgy, processing equipment, technology, and operations.
    • Expertise in innovation, invention, and engineering principles to improve existing products or develop and innovate new products or services
    • Strong leadership and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
    • Strong organizational skills to manage projects and lead efforts to commercialization.
    • Degree in Metallurgy, Minerals Processing, or equivalent
    • Demonstrates working experience in precious metals recovery or other related processes and techniques
    • Attitude of safe working culture
