    Description

    The Research Associate will work closely with the Director of Research and other BBI staff in a fast-paced environment to conduct disability-related research and produce high-quality papers for prestigious journals.

    This includes participating in project planning, development, implementation, and reporting.

    In this mission critical position, the candidate will assist with designing project protocols, obtaining IRB approvals and maintaining IRB records, collecting data, interpreting, and analyzing collected data, writing manuscripts, as well as providing input and attending project meetings and conference calls.

    They are also expected to contribute to the development of new grant proposals, study designs, research questions, survey questionnaires, and strategies for data analysis.

    This position is anticipated to be filled in the Syracuse, New York area. Candidates may be considered on a fully remote basis if residing outside of the Syracuse/Central New York area. Not all geographical areas within the United States are eligible.

    Qualifications


    • Ph.
    D.

    in Social Science, Sociology, Public Policy, Disability Policy or related fields or Master's degree with three (3) plus years of research experience.


    • Expertise in designing, supervising, and bringing research and evaluation projects to completion, using strong, reliable, and complex quantitative research methods.
    • Understanding of contemporary disability policies and issues.
    • Strong foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative methods.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience with effectively translating research findings for diverse audiences.
    Job Specific Qualifications


    • Demonstrated history of research excellence and a strong publication record.
    • Proficiency in inferential statistics, including the use of at least one common statistical package (such as SAS, Stata, or R).
    • Proficiency with survey research including platforms for survey administration (e.g., Qualtrics).
    • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute project activities and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across diverse backgrounds and at all organizational levels, including virtual work environments.
    • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail.
    Responsibilities


    • Design and implement project protocols.
    • Collect and analyze data.
    • Write reports, articles, and other pieces of dissemination; give presentations.
    • Mentor students also working on sponsored projects.
    • Support administrative tasks related to funded projects and communication about the Institute.
    • Other duties as assigned.
