    Description

    Overview

    The Senior Estimator (Estimator II) is responsible for successful execution of bid proposals using a combination of detailed quantity takeoff, actual and historical cost data, and qualified subcontractor and vendor quotes to prepare complete and accurate cost estimates.

    Objective/Purpose

    Semper Tek, Inc.'s Senior Estimator (Estimator II) will help support the preconstruction team by establishing construction estimates for new bid projects and change orders for existing projects of moderate to high complexity.

    Roles/Responsibilities

    During Bid Phase

    oReceive, file, and distribute design documents to internal team members, vendors, and subcontractors.

    oCoordinate subcontractor bid lists for budget pricing and bidding.

    oManage distribution of current design documents for subcontractor budgeting and bidding and ensure sufficient subcontractor participation.

    oReview design documents for level of completion, assemble comments and requests for additional information needed to provide complete estimates.

    oReview and confirm that all previously approved document revisions have been incorporated into the design documents. Record and report all exceptions.

    oAttend pre-bid meetings and subcontractor site walk-throughs.

    oVisit sites to evaluate existing conditions and identify and capture any scope that may not be included in the design documents.

    oPerform detailed quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate, and studies for all assigned trades and building systems.

    oPrepare subcontractor bid proposal forms and subcontractor bid recording sheets for assigned trades.

    oQualify subcontractor and vendor quotes for accuracy and inclusion of all relevant work associated with their respective trades. Identify and correct any scope gaps or overlaps.

    oEnsure pricing within the estimate is complete and accurate, reflecting actual and historical pricing data and subcontractor bids.

    oParticipate in internal estimate review meetings

    oCoordinate input from operations personnel, such as superintendents and project managers on bidding projects.

    oEnsure a detailed takeoff of General Conditions cost items are incorporated into the estimate.

    oProvide pricing for value engineering, alternates, options, and special studies as required.

    oSupport the assembly of all estimates, bid or NTE documents required by and submitted to the Owner.

    oPrepare for review Lump Sum, T&M, NTE Bids with company executives before completion of the cost proposal.

    oPrepare technical and cost proposals for submission to the Federal Government.

    oIdentify and qualify potential teaming partners amongst the potential subcontractors and vendors. Prepare and execute teaming agreements with selected teaming partners.

    After Award Phase

    • Review Activities List and durations for pre-construction schedules.
    • Prepare vendor reviews and create assessment reports.

    Post Construction

    oParticipate in postmortem project reviews

    oApprove Vendor List modifications based on postmortem.

    Skills Required

    Bachelors degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field or equivalent work experience in construction operations

    Must be able to multitask and meet established deadlines.

    Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices.

    Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents.

    Demonstrates proactive approaches to problem solving

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Highly organized, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and detail oriented

    Ability to analyze and report data

    Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel Spreadsheet proficiency

    Proficient in Sage Estimating or other similar estimating software.

    Experience with Construction Management Software such as Procore ERP Accounting

    Proficient with Schedule Logic and Primavera P6 scheduling software

    Intermediate understanding of Technical Writing

    Intermediate understanding in RSMEANS estimate assembling and take off.

    Skills Preferred:

    Certifications: OSHA 30, CPR 1st Aid,

    Minimum 7 years of related construction experience with a minimum of 5 years in estimating.

    Proficient in Construct Connect Software

    Proficient in Multiple estimating software platforms.

    Physical Qualifications

    Able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps. etc.

    Able to utilize construction personnel hoists

    Able to navigate work areas that are under construction

    Specific vision abilities required for this job include vision, peripheral, depth perception, and focus

    Repeating motions that may include wrist, hands, and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and

    controls

    Operate motor vehicle or heavy equipment

    Communicate with others to exchange information

    Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing for long periods of time

    Ability to climb, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

    Light to medium work that includes moving objects between 20-50 pounds

    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly visits construction work sites where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. The proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be required when exposed to the above conditions in accordance with OSHA and other applicable safety provisions.

    Terms and Conditions:

    Full time salary employee (Some travel and weekend work required)

    Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
