    STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
    Executes diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.

    Promotes and restores patient's health by performing diagnostic sonographic (ultrasound) testing and reporting test results; assuring the quality of operations and complying with all governing regulations.

    Providing test results to clinic providers in a timely manner.

    All functions to be performed at the level of expertise to which the Ultrasound Tech has been trained and certified.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Identify patient service requirements by establishing rapport with patients and others to better understand service requirements, being aware of age specific needs protocolsPerform diagnostic sonographic examination procedures in accordance with established standards and ensures practices, procedures, and policies meet Joint Commission accreditation standardsSchedule and coordinate tests, records test results, and prepare and maintain operational logsRespond to changes in patient's physical status/behavior and seek assistance from a registered nurse or providerAssume responsibility of area in coordination with the Chair of OB/GYNConduct quality assurance reviews of assigned areaProvide clinical guidance to all employees assigned to area and assists in their developmentSupervise per diem personnel including orienting, training, scheduling and evaluatingCompile statistics on analysis performed, number of procedures, and other necessary reportsCalibrate and maintain equipment and order supplies when neededConfer with providers and specialist on questions regarding tests and proceduresDevelop diagnostic sonographic methods, procedures, and policies in accordance with safe and efficient clinic guidelines and external accreditation standardsMaintain logs and film library in accordance with clinic regulations and protocolsQualifications


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    High School diploma or equivalencyGraduate of an approved one-year program in Ultrasound TechnologyRegistration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Certificate of completion of approved Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound comprehensive courseTwo years experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
