    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Patient Preparation: You'll prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures, explaining the process and answering any questions to alleviate concerns and ensure their comfort and cooperation throughout the procedure.
    • Radiopharmaceutical Administration: You'll safely administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines to minimize radiation exposure and ensure accurate delivery for diagnostic imaging or therapeutic purposes.
    • Imaging Procedures: You'll perform a variety of imaging procedures, including gamma camera scans, positron emission tomography (PET) scans, and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scans, to visualize and analyze physiological processes within the body.
    • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: You'll operate and maintain sophisticated nuclear medicine imaging equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards while troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise.
    • Image Analysis and Interpretation: You'll analyze acquired images to identify abnormalities, lesions, or areas of interest, collaborating with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret findings and formulate diagnostic reports.
    • Patient Monitoring and Safety: You'll monitor patients during imaging procedures to ensure their safety and comfort, intervening as needed to address any adverse reactions or complications while minimizing radiation exposure to both patients and staff.
    • Documentation and Record-Keeping: You'll maintain accurate patient records, documenting procedures, radiopharmaceutical administration, and patient responses in compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional protocols.
    • Quality Control and Assurance: You'll participate in quality control and assurance activities, performing routine checks on equipment, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging protocols to uphold the highest standards of accuracy, precision, and safety.
    • Collaboration and Communication: You'll collaborate closely with oncologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care, share findings, and contribute to multidisciplinary treatment planning and decision-making.
    • Continuing Education and Professional Development: You'll stay abreast of advances in nuclear medicine technology, techniques, and research through ongoing education and training, continuously expanding your knowledge and skills to provide the best possible care for patients.

    SKILLS NEEDED:

    • Technical Proficiency: No less than one year experience with nuclear medicine imaging equipment and techniques, including PET scanners, and SPECT scanners, along with proficiency in radiopharmaceutical administration and dose calculations.
    • Radiation Safety: Thorough understanding of radiation safety principles and protocols to minimize radiation exposure risks for patients, staff, and the public, coupled with adherence to regulatory guidelines and best practices.
    • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex imaging data and interpret findings accurately, recognizing subtle abnormalities and variations while applying sound clinical judgment to guide diagnostic and treatment decisions.
    • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail in performing imaging procedures, administering radiopharmaceuticals, and documenting patient information to ensure accuracy, precision, and compliance with protocols and regulations.
    • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to interact with patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and providing reassurance while maintaining clear and concise communication with healthcare team members to facilitate collaboration and coordination of care.
