    Description
    Amentum is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator position at Fort Carson, Colorado.

    The hourly pay for this position will be $30.23 with an additional range of $7.87 - $10.34 towards Health and Welfare Benefits (dependent on the employee's needs).


    POSITION OVERVIEW:


    The Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) operates a variety general construction equipment including but not limited to excavators (mini and large), back hoes, skid loaders, cranes, graders, rollers and other various equipment.

    Assures that machinery is maintained properly, and fluid levels are adequate.

    Must be proficient in utility digs, general dirt work such as grading, restoring flow of storm ditches, and equipment operations.

    During winter months assist in snow removal via operation of various equipment. This position will require overtime and being on call.

    HEO may read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans, and may grease, adjust and make minor emergency repairs to equipment.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Class A CDL Required.
    Must be able to drive manual transmission semi tractors.
    Dump truck and tractor trailer experience is preferred.
    Must have a minimum of four (4) years related Heavy Equipment Operator experience.
    Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
    Be able to work alone and unsupervised.
    Demonstrate proficiency of operation of various construction equipment.
    Must be able to pass a driver skills test by CDL standards.
    Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
    Successfully complete a thorough background investigation.

    For positions requiring use of a Company and/or Customer vehicle, must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

    The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

    The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in precarious places and is occasionally exposed to dust and debris.

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all the essential duties of the position satisfactorily.
