    About the Job

    Position Overview: The primary role of a Machine Shop General Laborer is to assist with various tasks in the production, and maintenance of machinery. Overall, a general laborer in a machine shop plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the shop and the quality of the products produced. The job requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and follow safety procedures.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Operate and maintain machinery: may be required to operate various machines, such as lathes, drills, and grinders to assist with the production of parts.
    • Will be responsible for maintaining the machines, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
    • Material handling: May need to move materials around the shop floor, including raw materials, finished parts, and tools. This may involve the use of a forklift, hand truck, or other equipment.
    • Cleaning and organizing: Will be responsible for keeping work area clean and organized. May involve sweeping floors, wiping down machines, and putting tools and materials away when not in use.
    • Quality control: Will be expected to inspect parts for defects or imperfections, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
    • General support: May be asked to perform various other tasks to support the production process, such as cutting materials, packaging parts, and assisting other Team Members.
    • Other duties: The general laborer may be asked to perform other duties as needed, such as assisting with inventory management, shipping, and receiving, or other tasks related to the operation of the machine shop.

    Qualifications/Education: To be successful in this role, you should have good hand-eye coordination and be comfortable working with your hands. You should also have basic math skills and be able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Additionally, you should be able to work independently and as part of a team, following instructions and completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner.     GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
