    The STEM Research Intern engages in hands-on research projects under the guidance of experienced mentors. The internship position contributes to scientific investigations, gathers data, analyzes results, and may present findings at conferences, gaining valuable experience and insights into their chosen field of study.

    Duties & Responsibilities
      Engages in hands-on research projects related to their field of studyWorks under the guidance and mentorship of experienced researchersContributes to ongoing scientific investigationsGathers data through various research methods and techniquesAssists in the analysis of research results and data interpretationCollaborates with team members on research tasks and projectsMaintains detailed records of experimental procedures and resultsParticipates in laboratory meetings and discussionsPrepares written reports summarizing research findingsAdheres to health and safety regulations and complies with all rules, regulations, and policies of the participating employerPresents research findings which may include conferences or seminars as applicable Performs other duties as assigned
    Minimum Requirements
      High School Diploma or GED equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and must be enrolled in a STEM degree program with the Honors College and enrolled in summer classes Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and proceduresKnowledge and understanding of the Miami Dade College Internship Program policies and proceduresKnowledge and understanding of the Miami Dade College Student Code of Student ConductBasic computer knowledgeEffective communication skills to collaborate with team members and convey research findingsPossess attention to detail in recording experimental procedures, observations, and resultsAbility to engage in hands-on research projects with curiosity, creativity, and critical thinkingAbility to work effectively under the guidance and mentorship of experienced researchersPossess collaboration skills to contribute positively to team-based research effortsAdaptability to new research environments, methodologies, and challengesKnowledge of statistical analysis techniques for interpreting research resultsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationshipsAbility to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
