Summary
The Arkansas Towing & Recovery Board Investigator is responsible for investigating complaints filed by law enforcement agencies, agency board members, and the public concerning compliance with current regulations under Arkansas Code & This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Responds to verbal and written complaints from consumers and advises them on the complaint process. Researches complaints by interviewing consumer and the towing operator either by phone or in person.
Compiles data and findings of the research on the complaint and determines if it needs to be forwarded to an administrative hearing.
Prepares correspondence advising consumer the status of their complaint. Investigates complaints of non-compliance with safety regulations on towing vehicles. Prepares reports for and attends monthly board meetings. Acts as a witness in administrative hearings or other legal proceedings when required. Performs other duties as assigned.Dimensions
Occasional work other than normal business hours and occasional in-state travel is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing the towing industry. Knowledge of research methods and procedures. Knowledge of general business practices and procedures of members of the towing industry. Ability to review complaints and initiate action to begin investigations. Ability to identify sources for relevant information to complete investigations.
Ability to communicate information to concerned parties, mediate issues or conflicts and work to reach a fair resolution of the issues.
Ability to gather facts, analyze data, and prepare written or oral reports for agency use and/or administrative hearings.Ability to interact with board members, agency personnel, the general public, law enforcement agencies, and members of the towing industry.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal educational equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in the towing industry or a related field.
