- Provides diagnostic, therapeutic and appropriate follow up care to patients, and family members, with the ability to function as an independent practitioner.
- Performs, interprets, or request special screening, developmental tests and laboratory tests. Provides guidance and instruction regarding self-care, wound care, follow-up appointments, etc.
- Provides surveillance of medical practices applied to stabilize chronically ill persons; adjusts treatments, and refer patients to physician or other health team members. Work collaboratively with physician in management of selected complex medical problems.
- Provides medical care and preventative services to healthy individuals, including guidance in nutrition, common illnesses, accidents, child growth and development and child rearing.
- Maintains knowledge and proficiency in medical practices through continuing education, staff meetings, and workshops.

Summary
This position is located at one of the Service Unit hospitals or clinics under the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, in the Division of Clinical Services. The primary purpose of this position is to perform comprehensive professional medical care as an independent health care provider with skill that are for both common and relatively common medical problems.
Duties
