Job summary
We are seeking a talented Casual Medical Lab Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at UPMC Jameson in New Castle PA.We are looking for individuals who are interested in working variable shifts with rotating weekend and holiday coverage responsibilities required.
No travel is required for this position.The applicants will be placed into the appropriate job title and salary based on their individual experience and education.
Responsibilities include interacting with all laboratory customers professionally responding to telephone inquiries courteously in a timely manner practicing pleasant communications both internally externally meeting established testing protocols for precision accuracy in a timely efficient manner recognizing critical abnormal unacceptable test results following up according to established protocols independently performing Moderately Complex Waived tests qualitative quantitative demonstrating dependability reliability independent judgment recognizing priorities accommodating department needs acceptance of appropriate authority performing documenting Quality Control according to established protocols informing supervisory personnel pathologists of any unusual problematic incidents assisting training orienting new employees students residents using established competency workstation operational guidelines monitoring maintaining supplies functions responsible using materials reagents cost-effective manner processing specimens analysis entering accurate patient demographic information laboratory test orders laboratory information system ascertaining adequacy patient information sample integrity honoring confidentiality patient information following compliance guidelines adhering all established laboratory hospital policies procedures methods quality assurance proficiency testing personnel policies following biohazard chemical sharps safety guidelines maintaining safe work environment maintaining instruments procedural calibrations quality control daily maintenance troubleshooting necessary conducting directing assist test development methodology equipment evaluation selection implementation recognize factors affect measurements results initiate corrective action predetermined protocols operate maintain equipment within scope training utilizing defined schedules written instructions perform quality control checks preventive maintenance calibration perform minor repairs use reagents supplies cost-effective manner monitor maintain supply inventory train orient new employees students residents applicable assigned interact all laboratory customers professionally respond telephone inquiries timely manner maintain knowledge techniques principles instruments interrelationships physiological conditions affecting test results adhere established laboratory hospital policies areas procedures methods quality control safety compliance personnel policies follow established procedures collection phlebotomy required processing specimens analysis appropriateness stability sample assume responsibility first-line supervision section department temporary basis delegated perform High Complexity Testing defined PA DOH direct supervision applicants placed appropriate job title salary education experience.
