    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

    Works under the direction of the Community Center Director to serve as the first point of contact for citizens and guests of Memphis Parks facilities.

    Handles day-to-day operations of the front desk, including answering phone calls responding to citizens questions and concerns, membership communications, emails, registrations, and taking deposits for facility rentals.

    Greets and welcomes all citizens
    and visitors to Memphis Parks. Scans all members upon their arrival to maintain member database records and assist with statistical tracking.

    Maintains expert status in RecDesk software and be able to function and operate the program effectively during high traffic periods.

    Provides tours to potential members that connect citizens/customers with programs, classes, and activities that help citizens/customers meet their desired experience goals.

    Registers citizens for community or senior memberships and programs in our designated software. Develops relationships with members to ensure retention and satisfaction. Completes a variety of transactions including charging of feed for rentals, programs, or certain membership types. Performs various clerical functions as assigned. Stocks fliers, registration forms, printers and assist with keeping service areas orderly and presentable for the community. Ensures that members are aware of policies and procedures.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS :

    • Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

    TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
    Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer and a telephone. Requires the ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 lbs.


    TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS :
    Work is performed in an office environment which involves contact with the staff and management. May travel on occasion across the city for onsite visits.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of customer service or clerical experience; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.

    Working experience in Parks and Recreation preferred. Associate's, vocational or, technical school degree preferred.

    The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment.
