    Job Title: Surgical Pathologist with Focus In Breast Pathology

    Position # – Requisition #33657

    Job Summary:

    Key Responsibilities:

    • 60-70% Attending in anatomic/surgical pathology based in the Department of Pathology, Surgical Pathology laboratory, focused subspecialty practice in breast or breast and gynecologic pathology at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH)
    • 5-10% Provide clinical consultation to peers in anatomic pathology, colleagues in other subspecialties of medicine related to breast or breast and gynecologic pathology at Multidisciplinary Conferences (MDC).
    • 10% Engage in teaching activities, including small and large group didactic conferences, one on one teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. This includes residents in pathology, as well as the GME accredited pathology fellowship in breast and gynecologic pathology. You will serve as fellowship program faculty, participate in evaluation and review committees, and help to ensure that residents and fellows acquire the necessary scientific, medical and other skills to be successful in their career growth.
    • 5-10% Engage in scholarship, as broadly defined in the matrix of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. You are not expected to acquire external funding, however, you may participate in funded research and also apply for pilot funding through Department of Pathology programs.
    • 10% Participate as the on call attending in anatomic pathology on-call coverage after hours, serve as the attending pathologist in frozen section coverage at UCH, as well as cover other responsibilities of call including transplant pathology (voluntary), medical autopsy, etc.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Assistant Professor

    • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
    • Completion of AP or AP/CP Residency in Pathology with board certification in AP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology
    • Completion of GME accredited fellowship in breast pathology or breast and gyn pathology
    • Qualify for a full unrestricted license to practice pathology in the State of Colorado
    • Candidate must be able to obtain credentials/privileges at the University of Colorado Hospital and with CU Medicine

    Associate Professor

    • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
    • Completion of AP or AP/CP Residency in Pathology with board certification in AP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology
    • Completion of GME accredited fellowship in breast pathology or breast and gyn pathology
    • Qualify for a full unrestricted license to practice pathology in the State of Colorado
    • Candidate must be able to obtain credentials/privileges at the University of Colorado Hospital and with CU Medicine
    • Board-certified with at least 5 years of experience practicing in anatomic pathology, with focused practice in breast or breast and gyn pathology and surgical pathology.
    • Clinical, teaching and scholarship accomplishments must be sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experienced anatomic pathologist with at least two years of experience focused in breast pathology or breast and gyn pathology
    • Academic credentials with interests in other areas of anatomic and or anatomic and clinical pathology, teaching and scholarship.
