Medical Technologist SS PRN - Gallatin, United States - Highpoint Health – Sumner
Description
Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states.Reports to:
Laboratory Supervisor
Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing.
Drag Edit DeleteCollects samples and analyze bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities. Collects blood and study blood samples used in transfusions
Drag Edit DeleteOperates laboratory equipment in a high-quality, effective manner.
Drag Edit DeleteAnalyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and reports/documents results per organizational standards.
Drag Edit DeletePerforms automated tests using computerized instruments & automated equipment.
Drag Edit DeletePerforms manual tests based on detailed instructions from a physician.
Drag Edit DeleteRuns tests and analyzes the results to be reported to the patient, physician or registered nurse.
Drag Edit DeletePerforms Quality Assurance work to ensure accuracy of equipment.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science - Required
Graduation from NAACLS-Accredited Program - PreferredDrag Edit Delete
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Licenses:
edical Technologist Generalist or Laboratory Supervisor by the Tennessee State Board of Health is Preferred
Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification (ASCP or AMT) Required within 12 months of hire or transfer to positionDrag Edit Delete
Required Skills
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association training center is required within 90 days of employment, if not current upon hireDrag Edit Delete
Minimum Work Experience
One (1) year experience in a clinical laboratory as a technologist, hospital environment - Preferred
