    Iowa Orthopedic Center is looking to add a Surgery Scheduling RN Professional to join our team Our full-time position is scheduled Monday through Friday - no nights, no weekends, no holidays Care for patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric.

    This position schedules surgeries and procedures for all our providers accurately and in a timely manner.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Schedule all surgery/procedures for the Iowa Orthopaedic Center Physicians, including the main operating room, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Outpatient Surgery Center, and all applicable surgery center locations.

    Assist patients to obtain all pre-operative clearances and H&P's in a timely manner ensuring that the patient's surgical procedures are performed in the safest facility.

    Call representatives for surgical equipment as needed for each case. Complete documentation to support actions for each case such as document date, time, and representative to whom we spoke.
    Handle all incoming phone calls from physicians, patients and hospitals in a timely courteous manner.
    Prepare all hospital sheets and distribute them daily.

    Ensure that a packet of information has been sent or hand delivered to each patient regarding the type of surgery the patient is having and instructions to be followed, such as arrival time at the hospital, no food or water after midnight, etc.

    Make sure that the information given to the patient is documented in the patient chart.
    Provide patient education regarding information and expectations for surgical planning and procedures.
    Provide weekly surgery schedule to each assigned provider along with the patient order, office visit note, print x-rays, etc.
    Developing and maintaining a professional working relationship with the assigned provider(s).
    Customer service advocate for internal and external personnel.
    Assist with other tasks as assigned.


    Requirements:

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    Excellent communication skills.
    Basic computer skills.
    Customer service experience preferred.
    Ability to speak, read, write, and hear the English language without translation.
    Ability to perform under high stress situations in a calm, caring, and safe manner.

    Able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    Associates degree in nursing, required.
    RN with license to practice in the State of Iowa required.
    Two years of experience in medical field, preferably scheduling and surgery, preferred.
    Four years of previous professional work experience, preferred.
    Mandatory reporting course within previous 5 years.
    Maintains BLS qualification.
