Ultrasound Technician

Fort Loudoun Medical Center is staffed with over 200 doctors in 29 specialty areas. Our state-of-the-art hospital offers advanced technology such as MRI, CT scans, Ultrasound, X-Rays, Women's Imaging Services, and unique Nuclear Medicine technology.

Position Summary:
Carries out routine and specialized ultrasound procedures as prescribed by physicians. Operates ultrasound equipment proficiently to generate high-quality images while maintaining a safe environment.

Responsibilities:

Perform procedures as ordered by a licensed medical practitioner for diagnosis.
Ensure completeness and relevance of sonography examination orders.
Conduct patient assessments.
Obtain and document clinical information and findings for physician review.
Identify any limitations in examinations and document incidental findings.
Demonstrate critical thinking skills and address specific patient needs.
Follow procedures for supply management and equipment maintenance.
Perform imaging procedures and assist with US procedures when necessary.
Adhere to infection prevention protocols and provide patient instructions/education.
Position patients for imaging and ensure their safety and comfort.
Provide psychological and physical support during procedures.
Maintain patient records and follow HIPAA guidelines.
Stay updated on Basic Life Support (BLS) and perform BLS when required.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Complete required education assignments regularly.
Work towards achieving goals, participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Must meet standards for required license and certification.

Minimum Experience:
Clinical training, certification, and three years of ultrasound experience.

Licensure Requirement:
Must hold and maintain ARDMS, ARRT (S), ARRT (VS), or CCI licensure. State licensure as per Tennessee guidelines. BLS certification preferred.
