    This position is located with the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Force Readiness Command, Training Division, Aviation Training Center Mobile in Mobile, AL.



    Duties


    This position serves as a Civilian Training Instructor responsible for training and evaluating students, re-qualification and proficiency course pilots, in advanced technical systems and procedures for Coast Guard Aviator Courses through the use of facilitated online, Cockpit Procedures Trainer (CPT), and Simulator instruction.

    Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments includes

    • Conducting virtual and classroom instruction on aircraft systems, aerodynamics and crew procedures involving the operation of Coast Guard aircraft in support of pilot Proficiency, Transition and Requalification courses.
    • Conducting virtual and classroom instruction on areas including, but not limited to, Methods of Instruction (MOI), Crew Resource Management (CRM), Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Coast Guard Air Operations in accordance with USCG Commandant Instruction M3710.1l.
    • Evaluating student progress and provides remedial training as necessary.
    • Leading non-operational oriented instruction in Cockpit Procedure Trainer and Simulators to include checklist usage, basic air work, use of flight management system and flight director, instrument flight procedures, instrument flight evaluations, night vision goggles, normal and emergency procedures.
    • Applying a combination of instructional methods and techniques such as lecture, demonstrations, exercises, Interactive Courseware instruction, seminars, self-paced instruction and case studies.
    • Updating simulator-based Instrument Flight Check scenarios for courses of instruction on a quarterly basis.
