- Performs computed tomography studies and procedures. Positions patients and provides immobilization means and patient counseling as required. - Assumes responsibilities for the needs of patient during procedure. Provides service-oriented communication with patient; explaining procedure; answering questions. Emphasizes a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere at all times. Dismisses patients for transport and/or assists with patient transport at end of procedure.

- Post processes CT images as required (reformatted images, 3D, etc.) Prepares images for Radiologist interpretation, and transmits images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
- Post processes/reviews diagnostic radiology images as required; prepares images for Radiologist interpretation, and transmits images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
- Rotates and shares on call responsibilities for General Radiology and CT service areas.
- Follows all National Patient Safety Goals. Receives and double identifies patients using appropriate criteria prior to performing the study ordered. Ensures accuracy of information and data entry, while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. Captures required documentation in Radiology Information System (RIS.) Assists with screening patients for contraindications.
- Prepares sterile fields and contrast agents; prepares floor stock medications; ensures sterility of surgical packs, trays and disposables to be used in assigned area. Maintains appropriate and adequate supplies during the procedures.
- Assists radiologist during procedures; capturing specific interventional CT images and assisting with biopsy specimen collection. Operates and understands all features and performance capabilities of the CT systems.
- Assists radiologist during fluoroscopic procedures; operates and understands all features and performance capabilities of the general radiology, fluoroscopy and portable imaging systems.
- Maintains working knowledge of all department equipment and devices. Reports equipment malfunctions appropriately; reports accidents and/or unusual incidents as well as unsafe conditions to appropriate administrative personnel.
- Provides instructions on appropriate safety measures to patients, family members, and hospital staff as required; ensures appropriate safety precautions are followed. Applies appropriate measures (ALARA Principles) for minimizing radiation exposure to patients and self. Records fluoroscopy time used during procedures.
- Maintains all materials needed and linen supply on daily basis; maintains general order and cleanliness of room assigned.

Position Overview:
Under direct and indirect supervision, performs computerized tomographic (CT) examinations and procedures in the CT service areas.
Under direct and indirect supervision, provides general radiology and fluoroscopic imaging in the radiology, emergency department, surgery and portable bedside service areas.
The incumbent processes images via CR (Computer Radiography) and PACS (Picture Archiving and Co9mmunications System), prepares records of service performed, makes adjustments to equipment, reports any malfunctioning equipment to their Supervisor/Manager, transports patients to and from the department.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
Minimum two (2) years of general radiology experience plus one year computed tomography experience, including experience or successful completion of training program (pre-hire, post-hire, or on-the-job) in area of specialty, if applicable.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
A complete understanding of technical principles, policies, and procedures is required in one or more of the following modalities: General Radiology and/or Computed Tomography.
Understanding of current departmental and hospital; policies and procedures.
Understands contraindications and potential hazards of different exams.
Understands the concepts of:
The Incumbent must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members of the diagnostic imaging department, staff member of other departments, and medical staff.
