- Support all structural calculations including kip loadings, column, beam, cover plate, and base plate sizing.
- Collaborate with P.E. for state-certified structural and civil drawings.
- Perform engineering calculations for drives, shafts, cylinders, and bearings.
- Create ABMs and work orders for the shop and purchasing; address queries from these departments.
- Provide input on drawing development and offer technical support to project engineers.
- Create solutions to technical issues in a timely manner.
- Check drawings or designate a checker before submission to shop or sub-fabrication sources.
- Produce AutoCAD conveyor layouts to meet customer JPH requirements.
- Track project requirements pre- and post-award.
- Work with project manager on-site as required; attend meetings and perform field checks.
- Assist project manager and superintendent with quoting additional work requirements.
- Maintain an updated task list for ongoing projects and those handled by your team.
- Provide chain pulls on CP Plus with drive balancing and drive dropout capability as per customer requirements.
- Supply FMEA and FEA documentation to external sources as needed.
- Stay updated with customer specifications and revisions.
- Train and monitor less experienced engineers and selected engineering sub-contractors.
- Offer start-up assistance to project manager and superintendent.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of automotive conveyor design experience, or non-degreed with 5+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Inventor, with a preference for experience in larger scale, automotive conveyor projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environments, identifying scope changes and creating detailed change order requests.
