Software Development Intern

Overview

Supports multiple systems which includes coding, implementing, and maintaining the following systems: order entry; order fulfillment/distribution center/shipping; inventory; finance; merchandising; marketing; e-Commerce.

Requires weekly onsite work in Omaha, NE.

Detailed Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Interprets design documents, completes analysis and creates designs on simple tacticals under general supervision
1. Conducts design walk throughs on own work
2. Codes, tests, and debugs moderately complex programming projects from detailed specifications with supervision across one or more platforms
3. Sets-up unit test plans and assists in system testing
4. Assists in defect incident report cause determination and resolution
5. Provides status reports on assigned projects
6. Creates programmer and client documentation
7. Abides by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company, Inc.
8. Maintains regular and predictable attendance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Ability to effectively interface with customers, clients and other departments
2. Possess an understanding of business applications
3. Possess good written and verbal skills
4. Ability to become proficient in the daily operations at Oriental Trading Company
5. Proficient in database normalization to fourth normal form
6. Knowledge of SourceSafe or other source control software
7. Understanding of System Analysis, Design, and System Integration
8. Knowledge of one of the following: Access, SQL Server, Oracle, DB/2, or DB/2 400
9. Java EE Technologies (ranging from EJB to JSP), HTML, CSS and XML

Education

• Bachelor's degree or in progress to complete a Bachelor's degree
