    Health & Safety Manager

    JOB DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY

    The Health and Safety (H&S) Manager is responsible for the implementation, control and compliance with Company and Federal Safety policies, procedures and regulations. The H&S Manager provides the knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive health and safety culture within the workplace. This represents a key role in helping control occupational risk.

    The H&S Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted. The H&S Manager will develop and implement all aspects of environmental health and safety including all applicable regulatory, plant and corporate H&S related policies and procedures critical to the success of GSI Service Group Inc.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Primary duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Accountable for compliance with all applicable regulatory, plant and corporate H&S related policies and procedures.
    • Accountable for Emergency Response functions, roles and responsibilities in accordance with site emergency response plan.
    • Supports management/supervision to ensure all site associates understand and comply with all applicable regulatory, plant and corporate H&S, security and related policies and procedures.
    • Leads and maintains an integrated safety management system for Division H&S policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
    • Ensures that the company personnel are adequately trained with respect to H&S matters.
    • Establish H&S goals for the Division and develop programs to achieve the goals.
    • Coordinate internal audits as required to ensure the safety management system is being adequately followed by both management and the work force.
    • Leading in-house training about health and safety issues and risks relating to internal and/or external incident investigations and ensure integration of the new learning.
    • Submits on-time reports to the correct department and/or regulatory agency.
    • Maintain and promote a team relationship within the site operations team.
    • Author and/or review H&S plans.
    • Perform such other duties as may be required from time to time.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    The minimum qualifications for the H&S Manager are:


    • Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or comparable certification.


    • BS in Safety or Industrial Hygiene, or 5-years related experience with H&S.


    • Familiarity with the EM


    • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Department of Defense (DoD), State environmental regulations, standards and permit requirements.


    • Strong leadership, managerial, technical, interpersonal and communication skills.


    • Excellent written and oral communications skills.


    • Strong command of MS Office suite of programs to include Word and Excel.


    • Must be able to work independently and have strong time management skills.
