- Directly supervises Respiratory Therapist and Central Monitoring staff.
- Makes unit and patient rounds throughout the shift. Ensures support and guidance is provided as well as responding to patient or family concerns when escalation is necessary.
- Mentors staff to meet established productivity targets as appropriate. Reviews staffing/assignments and revises as necessary to meet the specific needs of the units on a shift-by-shift basis.
- Responds to all Code Blue, Emergency Response Team calls to provide support during Code Blue/RRT, to staff and family.
- Utilizes chain of command for unresolved or escalating issues and advocates for patients and staff to provide for safe delivery of care and/or a safe environment of care.
- Provides timely, confidential coaching and/or counseling of personnel as appropriate and follows up.
- Promotes and supports professional growth of staff.
- Responsible for maintaining/improving/implementing plans for employee engagement scores.
- Assures first person reporting of events through Event Reporting System. Ensures all staff are competent in entering event reports and serves as a resource when necessary. Investigates facts of event reports. Facilitates timely receipt of these reports for follow-up by the Unit Manager and notifies Nurse Manager/Risk Manager immediately of high-risk situations.
- Actively participates and supports quality assurance and improvement programs.
- Supports maintaining/improving/implementing plans for patient satisfaction survey scores.
- Collects information and maintains records regarding performance and contributions on an ongoing basis throughout the fiscal year. Provides input and/or conducts annual performance reviews and orientation evaluation of personnel assigned to the department.
- Assists leadership in conducting accreditation readiness audits to assess compliance with standards.
- Supports shared leadership structure and works collaboratively to accomplish goals and positively influence and support team members.
- Competent to provide all job duties of Respiratory Therapist in the need to provide coverage during shifts when staffing crisis/shortage occurs.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's of Science in Respiratory Care (BSRC or BSRT) required
- Master's degree in Respiratory Care (MSRC), Business Administration, or Master's of Hospital Administration preferred
- Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (RCP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire
- National Board for Respiratory Care Registration (RRT)

This eight-story 144-bed facility will offer uninterrupted patient care in one location within San Antonio, TX, the 7th largest city in the U.S.
Under the direction of the Director of Critical Care Services, the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor is responsible for organizing, planning, directing and coordination of all activities related to Respiratory Care Services and Central Monitoring.
This includes direct supervision of staff. Ensures that practices meet regulatory compliance as well as quality, safe, cost effective and efficient patient care is provided.Job Duties

Two (2) or more years leadership experience required.
