    Property Underwriting Consultant

    Salary: $115,000 - $150,000

    Location:

    Carmel, IN office with a hybrid schedule (2 days remote/3 days in office).

    We are currently seeking an Underwriting Consultant with substantial technical experience in commercial property to join the Corporate Underwriting Team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing the property underwriting strategy, enhancing technical capabilities, and positioning property lines of business for improved growth and profitability.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Establish and ensure adherence to risk appetite, risk selection, coverage analysis, underwriting guidelines, and underwriting authority for Property risks, including Inland Marine and Agribusiness Property.
    • Create consistency in underwriting and pricing decisions, enhance monitoring standards to assess underwriting results.
    • Provide strategic and operational objectives to impact property underwriting results in alignment with corporate plans.
    • Manage authority and referrals for Property lines of business, providing subject matter expertise and support for complex referrals.
    • Manage the Property CAT strategy, including accumulation management, geographic exposure analysis, and proper CAT risk pricing.
    • Collaborate with the reinsurance team to assist in placement as needed.
    • Acquire and leverage market intelligence to compare with industry peers and ensure a competitive fit for our agency customers.
    • Work with Product leadership to develop new product ideas and review coverage language.
    • Improve technical excellence in Property Underwriting, collaborating with Underwriting Leaders to identify and resolve training needs, product and services enhancements, and ensuring a local presence of property underwriting excellence.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree or higher.

    Experience:

    • Eight years of experience in commercial lines property underwriting.
    • Expert knowledge of underwriting processes, coverages, tools, and company products and services.
    • Expert working knowledge of ISO & AAIS Property Forms, including Commercial Output Policies.
    • Expert knowledge of commercial insurance, underwriting, and risk control principles. Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Advanced ability to analyze, define, and solve problems, using good judgment and decision-making. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

    Preferred:

    • Subject matter expertise in Construction, Manufacturing, or Agribusiness industries is a plus.
    • CPCU, CIC, or other advanced designations are preferred.
