    Sales and Purchasing Assistant

    Are you a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Do you enjoy supporting both sides of the business equation – buying and selling? This Purchasing & Sales Assistant role for an Specialty Chemical Manufacturer might be the perfect fit for you. In this position, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our Purchasing and Sales teams, ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction.

    What you'll do:

    Purchasing:

    1. Research and source products: Find the best possible sources for the products we need, assisting Account Managers in making informed decisions.
    2. Manage data: Enter information accurately into our systems, manage pricing schedules, and keep data organized and up to date.
    3. Resolve purchasing issues: Handle routine problems like discrepancies and ensure smooth invoice processing.
    4. Maintain vendor relationships: Build positive connections with suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
    5. Assist with onboarding new vendors: Get new suppliers up and running efficiently in our systems.
    6. Investigate and propose solutions: Address vendor concerns and suggest ways to improve processes and relationships.

    Sales:

    1. Assist Account Managers: Help them close deals by providing on-the-ground support.
    2. Calculating Commissions: Assist with commission, pricing and mark-up approvals based on documented process.
    3. Coordinate training: Arrange Vendor training for Account Managers to ensure they stay up-to-date on products.
    4. Report on progress: Provide daily/weekly updates on performance to keep the team informed.

    What you bring:

    • 3-5 years of business experience, preferably with 1-2 years in purchasing (manufacturing experience a plus).
    • Strong systems orientation – you're comfortable navigating various software and adept at learning new ones.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you'll work with everyone from colleagues to vendors and customers.
    • Independent and proactive – you take initiative and ownership of tasks with a sense of urgency.
    • Detail-oriented and analytical – accuracy and attention to detail are key.
    • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills – be ready to tackle challenges and find solutions.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
    • Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems (Great Plains experience a plus).
