Manufacturing Shift Manager - 3rd Shift
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Shift Manager – 3rd Shift is responsible for leading overnight production operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved. This role provides direct supervision to production supervisors and hourly team members, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Directly supervise and provide leadership to hourly employees on third shift.
· Lead and develop third-shift supervisors and production team members.
· Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
· Conduct shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety updates, and performance expectations.
· Production & Performance Management
· Ensure daily production targets and KPIs (OEE, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency) are met.
· Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and machine utilization to optimize performance.
· Coordinate shift handoffs to ensure seamless transition between shifts.
· Analyze production data and implement corrective actions as needed.
Safety & Compliance
· Enforce all safety policies and OSHA standards.
· Conduct regular safety audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
· Ensure compliance with quality standards.
Quality Assurance
· Ensure products meet established quality standards.
· Partner with Quality Assurance to investigate and resolve non-conformances.
· Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
· Continuous Improvement
· Support lean manufacturing initiatives
· Identify process improvement opportunities to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
· Participate in cross-functional improvement projects.
Administrative & Reporting
· Maintain accurate production records and shift reports.
· Manage labor scheduling, overtime approval, and timekeeping.
Qualifications/Experience
· Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
· Equivalent experience considered.
· 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
· 2+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies
· Strong leadership and team development skills.
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
· Understanding of production planning and performance metrics.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
· Effective communication skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
