    Job Description

    Job Summary: We are looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team to assist in participant care activities and support our therapy services.

    Specifications:

    • Education: Graduate of accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
    • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a clinical setting, preferably working with the elderly population
    • Supervision: None
    • Licensure/Certification: Active Occupational Therapy Assistant certification in Michigan, CPR certification, NPI number
    • Special Training: Compliant with practice scope and required competencies
    • Immunizations: Up to date and medically cleared for communicable diseases
    • Specific Requirements: Handling of infectious waste, potential exposure to diseases
    • Ages of Patients: Adult, Geriatric

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in treatment under OT guidance
    • Maintain treatment documentation and records
    • Prepare and maintain treatment area and equipment
    • Attend to participant's needs during sessions
    • Assist in daily living activities as directed by OT
    • Report participant's condition changes to the team
    • Participate in Quality Improvement Process
    • Support OT in ordering/tracking participant DME's
    • Complete home visits when required
    • Adhere to PACE policies and regulations
    • Perform other assigned duties

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • Autonomous with strong attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work flexibly
    • Understanding of older adults' needs
    • Skills in physical assessment and chronic disease management
    • Proficient in interdisciplinary teamwork and basic computer skills

    Physical Demands:

    The job involves talking, hearing, sitting, using hands, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Visual abilities include close vision and distance vision. Must be able to travel in different weather conditions.
