    Job Summary

    We are looking for a Inpatient, Acute Care Speech Pathologist - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting.

    In this position, you will appropriately diagnose and treat patients primarily between the ages of years with speech, oral motor/swallowing, language, and learning disorders.


    Schedule:
    Monday-Friday 8am-5pm


    Alternative scheduling options include 4(10) hour days:
    Sunday - Wednesday OR Wednesday - Saturday

    Responsibilities


    • Experienced with management of pediatric dysphagia
    • Able to informally evaluate cognitive-linguistic deficits
    • Familiarity with pediatric airway disorders
    • Strong understanding of progression of oral feeding development from newborn to transitional feeders
    • Able to collaborate and effectively communicate with members of medical team
    • Maintains records as required by law, IDS policy and administrative regulations
    • Administers formal tests as needed
    • Makes referrals for other evaluations as appropriate
    • Provides in-service teaching to colleagues
    • Promotes speech-language pathology services within the community and the IDS
    Qualifications


    • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
    • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology field of study required
    • CCC-SLP certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association required
    • TX-SLP license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation required
    • 1-year professional speech-language pathology experience with pediatrics required
    • 3 years HIGHLY PREFERRED with feeding and swallowing in the pediatric population
    • 1 year inpatient experience preferred
