    Salary range $53,000 – $58,000

    Typical hours are Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Some after-hours and weekend work are required.

    Start Date:
    Position to begin in the month of May.


    The Memphis Bar Association is a professional organization for attorneys in Memphis and the surrounding Midsouth area providing a place for lawyers to grow, connect and serve.


    Job Summary:


    Working under the strategic direction of the Memphis Bar Association (MBA) Executive Director, the MBA Membership and CLE Director provides leadership and strategic vision for the Memphis Bar Association membership and continuing legal education and professional development services.

    This role is responsible for directing and managing MBA's membership and administering programs, events, and services for over 2,000 MBA members.

    This role understands the importance of MBA to the Memphis community and must effectively collaborate with members, the board, and key external partners to ensure MBA success in fulfilling its mission.


    Responsibilities:
    Plans, directs, and monitors the membership and CLE activities of the Memphis Bar Association


    Leads the development of MBA strategic priorities in accordance with the board, and establishes goals, financial and operational expectations, execution plans and outcomes to ensure MBA achieves desired results.


    Responsible for creating annual budgets and appropriate reporting to ensure accurate forecasting, financial modeling, goal setting and measurement metrics for key business development initiatives to include developing and managing department budgets.

    Partners with related committees to own and execute annual programming impacting CLE & membership services and activities.

    Provides staff support and leadership to MBA special events as assigned.


    Member Services:
    Maintains member database to ensure accuracy and completeness of members' information.

    Develops and executes strategies for member retention and recruitment.

    Develops compelling membership benefits value proposition and answers inquiries about membership and member benefits.

    Work in tandem with MBA staff to recruit and retain members.

    Handles members customer service issues (such as but not limited to processing dues payments in online portal).


    Continuing Legal Education:


    Manage education vendors and speakers, work with MBA staff and board, course advisors, in the design, planning, budgeting, marketing, implementing, and evaluating of CLE programs.

    Conduct long-range planning, policy development, implementation, and evaluation of CLE programs.

    Guide the development of content for CLE programs, to include researching and evaluating CLE programs offered by competing providers.

    Work directly with Section leadership to ensure implementation of CLE programming and networking events.


    Conduct needs assessment of members and lead the development of new education content, including recruiting high-profile qualified faculty and promoting diversity in programming.

    Develop and maintain relationships with the states' CLE commission and related associations.

    Monitor, recommend, and implement emerging learning technologies and techniques, including traditional, e-learning, podcasts, webinars, and livestreaming.

    Prepare and present reports about the CLE programs and professional development to the board and staff.


    Works closely with the CLE Coordinator to oversee the execution and implementation of CLEs along with reporting credit hours to the state.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    In depth knowledge in membership services and continuing legal education

    Proven history of consistently performing at a high level

    Proven leadership qualities that demonstrate successful planning, communication, and execution.

    Proven ability to collaborate and work well with others.

    Consistently demonstrates the understanding of the Memphis Bar Association purpose


    Required Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's Degree and/or 3+ years of relevant experience.


    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • The ideal candidate will have some legal experience.
    • Marketing and/or special events experience and background
    • Nonprofit experience and background
