    ROLE SUMMARY: Located on site in Cookeville TN, the design engineer will be primarily responsible for product design and processing of orders through the engineering workflow, for assigned valve product lines. The role will require reviewing order requirements, identifying product configurations and options to meet customer specification, coordinating with other engineering resources (global engineering center in India) to complete engineering documentation, and reviewing and approving bills of materials, component and general arrangement drawings. This may include developing and designing custom solutions to meet customer requirements. In addition, the design engineer will support customer requests for product information and help to resolve basic product issues on the shop floor or in the field as needed.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide engineering design support for assigned product line, working with other technical resources to complete product design documents (drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, etc.).
  • Review quote and order documents to ensure customer requirements are well defined and understood.
  • Coordinate engineering workflow with available resources to meet lead-time requirements for processing orders.
  • Communicate between order management, commercial operations, quality and global engineering center in India to resolve order issues and answer product questions.
  • Create layout drawings, detail drawings and bills of material as needed to complete engineering documentation.
  • Check and approve engineering documentation created by other resources, including global engineering center in India.
  • Support manufacturing and quality in processing orders through the shop floor
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Able to process multiple tasks and manage workflow effectively.
  • Solid modeling and drafting utilizing SolidWorks or Inventor.
  • Engineering analysis using appropriate methods such as calculation and/or testing.
  • Capable of reading, interpreting, and creating engineering drawings
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Must have a high sense of urgency to meet lead-time requirements and processing engineering workflow tasks.
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • 3+ years' experience in product engineering, particularly on industrial type products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering analysis using FEA for mechanical strength and structural analysis, as well as thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
  • Experience with castings, forgings and machined components.
  • Knowledge of various materials utilized in industrial products, such as steel alloys and non-metallic sealing elements.
  • Experience with valves and valve components engineering and manufacturing is a plus.
