    Job Description I

    BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
    Plans, lays out, tests, troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and refurbishes complex precision mechanical devices, systems, subsystems, mechanisms and controls
    Lead DLM projects and provides general direction to junior DLM team members
    Work with other field engineers, system engineers, Government personnel and international customers as needed for effectively resolving all system issues may be performed locally or on business travel

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    (Duties and responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job
    Incumbent(s) perform one or more of the following duties.) 1
    Inspects, tests, adjusts and rebuild basic to complex assemblies, subassemblies, parts and systems for compliance with specifications and quality assurance practices following blueprints, schematics and inspection manuals using hand tools and precision testing equipment
    Performs maintenance, repair, corrosion control, and general refurbishment of a wide variety of Instrumentation Equipment and subcomponents
    Ability to lead Depot Level Maintenance (DLM) team in planning and implementation of complex overhaul activities.

    Repairs basic to complex malfunctions by adjusting, calibrating, aligning or modifying circuitry and mechanical components using hand and power tools.

    Ability to lead DLM team to accomplish tasks around the world and often in an austere environments within a predefined timeline
    Ability to rebuild gearboxes, recommend required maintenance for specific systems
    Troubleshoot mechanical problems and implement solutions of associated assemblies to include pedestals, antenna, servo systems, gearbox overall, and corrosion control

    Uses micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools to ensure products meet in-process and final tolerances

    Operates standard machine shop equipment to construct, rebuild or repair metal / mechanical / fiberglass / carbon fiber/ parts and equipment

    Sets up standard test apparatus and conducts operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model

    Installs equipment field changes
    Assembles and/or modifies wires, insulation and components using hand and power tools
    Installs assemblies and hardware into housing

    Complete corrosion control, antenna repairs, and pedestal repairs on a wide variety of radar & telemetry systems

    Previews designs or specifications for completeness, accuracy, adequacy and compliance with company and/or customer specifications

    Supports design, development, fabrication, integration, installation and post testing of rebuilt or modified equipment

    Develops and/or prepares plans, designs, specifications, test procedures, parts lists, etc
    for DLMs.12

    OTHER JOB RELATED INFORMATION:
    This position requires frequent travel to perform overhauls and engineering support, on a wide variety of Instrumentation Equipment
    Travel may be to remote locations, both foreign and domestic
    Performs other related duties while on travel
    Required Education, Experience, & Skills


    • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience OR Associates Degree and 8 years of experience OR Military Technical Training with High School Diploma and 15 years
    • Hand on experience with ground-based radar to include system operation, calibration, and depot level maintenance work
    • Experience with some of the following sub-systems, RF, antenna, transmitter, receiver, HV power supplies
    Mechanical subsystems include pedestal, AZ/EL servo and servo control systems, gearboxes, corrosion control, and heat exchangers

    • Experience leading team of mechanical technicians on complex overhauls of various systems
    • Must have experience with an understanding of the concepts, procedures and guidelines necessary to solve highly complex mechanical problems during overhauls of radar, telemetry, and other systems
    • Must be adaptable and experienced with developing solutions in the field.
    • Must have experience performing crane lifts of radar systems safely, and ability to design lift plates necessary to safely remove and replace gearboxes
    • Must have experience evaluating mechanical performance of servo systems of precision tracking systems
    • Must have experience in mechanical component repair
    • Must have strong communication skills with inter-organizational and outside customer contacts and the ability to work well in a small team environment
    • Ability to travel 50-75% CONUS/OCONUS Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
    • Depot Level Maintenance (DLM) experience
    • Hands-on experience with radar systems including RIR-778, RIR-779, FPS-134, RIR-980, Nike, and KTM pedestal in addition to other systems
    • Radar operational and calibration experience
    • Electronic test equipmentSalary Min $91,980 - Max $156,330

    Full-Time Salary Range:
    $ $156330 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures
    However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience
