ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
Position: District School Psychologist - 12 month position
Reports to:
Pupil Services Director
Qualifications: Pennsylvania Certified School Psychologist
Job Responsibilities:
STAFF
1.
Consult with staff to communicate assessment results in a way that is meaningful to the staff and will be of maximum help to the pupils through individual teacher and MTSS meetings.
Provide support, instructions, technical assistance and ongoing monitoring of progress toward measurable, identified goals for students at individual, group or system level.
2. Participate in staff/principal conferences about individual students and/or about general classroom procedures.3. Participate in teacher/parent conferences to facilitate mutual communication and understanding about a problem the child may be experiencing.
4.
Participate in teacher or group conferences about a specific student who is having difficulty, in order to coordinate the student's program.
STUDENTS
1. Assess and evaluate referred students' needs, strengths, and weaknesses via observation, testing and interview.
Provide functional academic & behavioral assessments that are relevant to the presenting problem and student characteristics and are intervention and results oriented.
2. Plan for remediation and/or placement, i.e. prescriptions for learning, special education programs for the exceptional child, integration programs, etc., through written reports and consultation.
3. Refer, when necessary, to appropriate community agencies through phone contact or written communication. Consult and collaborate with educators, parents, children, and other professionals or agencies to improve student outcomes.
4. Facilitate seamless transition for Early Intervention children entering school age programming.
5. Conduct threat/suicide assessments for students who are deemed at-risk to self or others.
PARENTS
1. Reports to parents the individual evaluation results and recommendations through follow-up parent conferences.
2. Instruct parents in methods to directly assist their children educationally, i.e, remediation strategies, behavior management, study skills, etc.
SCHOOL
1. Participate in staff-principal conferences about individual students and general school programs.
2. Direct/oversee referrals to subcontractor school psychologists.
3. Lead/coordinate Chapter 15/Section 504 evaluations and eligibility process. Facilitate 504 Service Agreement of initial draft, subsequent revision and annual building/grade transition.
4. Promote the establishment of remedial/special help services and other curricular offerings needed by students which are not currently available.
Provide leadership in data analysis and evaluation, using data outcomes for implementing plans at an individual, group or systems level.
5.
Assist in developing and implementing District Policy regarding assessment and evaluation process, remediation, referral to state and local agencies, and overall program applications with regard to the children in the Moon Area School District.
Engage in staff development through membership in professional organizations, staff development, consulting and research.6. Perform other duties attributed to the position as directed by the Pupil Services Director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month year; salary to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
