    Job Description:

    SUMMARY: The Human Resource Specialist is primarily responsible for performing functions related to payroll, employee information, and onboarding in accordance with the Coastal Cancer Center values.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    • Gains overall conceptual knowledge of Medical Oncology/Hematology, Radiation Oncology and healthcare in order to assist in primary duties of Human Resources department.
    • Maintains all employee, I-9, new hire compliance, and new hire OSHA/HIPAA files in a confidential manner as directed by the Human Resource Director.
    • Completes the data entry of department schedules for all coordinators, completes time exceptions for coordinators, and keys leave requests for all APPs in a timely manner for the completion of employee payroll.
    • Assists in the interview process of potential employees when needed.
    • Completes necessary pre-hire documents with potential employees and orders background checks and drug/alcohol screenings. Follow up prior to new hire orientation to ensure documents have been received.
    • Ensures conditional hires have necessary credentials for position.
    • Responsible for completing IT setup requests for all new hires.
    • Communicate with the new hire during the onboarding experience to make certain they are completing their tasks in a timely manner, including the pre-hire assigned readings and online training.
    • Conducts new employee orientation and ensures all new hire and enrollment forms and tasks are complete.
    • Plan and communicate calendar of employee dress up days in conjunction with HR Director.
    • Routinely files documents in employment files/medical files for both the assistant position and the director position.
    • Assist the HR Director with attendance records.
    • Filing of employee documents attained by the assistant and the HR Director.
    • Monthly maintenance of the Perform Yard employee files.
    • Monthly maintenance of the Provider Trust employee files.
    • Monthly review of employee files. Move terminated employee files to the archive files.
    • Removal and destruction of employee files in archive that are 10 years past termination date.
    • Acts as liaison with other departments, employees, and outside agencies.
    • Assists in benefit administration.
    • Attends continuing education to stay abreast of current laws and regulations.
    • Assists with special projects as required.
    • Handles high level of stress.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Education: High School education or equivalent.
    • Experience: Prefer two (2) years Human Resource experience and three (3) years medical background.
    KNOWLEDGE:
    • Knowledge of payroll and employment documentation.
    • Knowledge of how to use Personal Computer and Human Resources software applications.
    • Knowledge of benefits administration procedures.
    SKILLS:
    • Skill in using Human Resource Information System computer capabilities.
    • Skill in processing payroll and benefits information accurately.
    • Skill in clear presentation of benefits information.
    ABILITIES:
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff at all levels.
    • Ability to communicate clearly.
    • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
    • Ability to handle multiple administrative projects.
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
