    YesFLSA Status: ExemptLocation: San Diego, CASchedule: Hybrid, in office 2-3 days a weekPosition SummaryReporting to the Controller, the Senior Manager, Accounting will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data, and for the daily management of accounting functions and processes for the company.

    The Senior Manager, Accounting needs to collaborate effectively with people in all departments and at all levels within the organization.

    Responsibilities Provide leadership to team members and ensure a high level of performance, productivity, and integrityDemonstrate strong leadership skills in fostering a positive and collaborative team environmentLead month-end closing activities; prepare or review all journal entries, including complex journal entries for clinical, preclinical, and manufacturing expenses, allocations and global consolidationPrepare/review balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis; reconcile complex balance sheet accounts and investigate/resolve variancesPrepare financial reporting package (income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, statement of shareholders equity, and financial statement analysis) for internal and external reportingResponsible for bi-monthly payroll processingReview weekly check runs and ensure the timely payment of invoices; review all invoices for codingPreparation of equity-related journal entries, administration of equity awards and reconciliation of equity award activityAssist the controller with the annual audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and interaction with external auditorsAssist in the preparation of support schedules needed for the annual tax provision/returnAssist the controller with the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) systems and processes, including documentation of policies, procedures, and controlsAssist with SOX 404b audit activities, as applicableAssist the controller with any accounting-related efficiency projects, such as new tool implementationsMinimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA preferredMinimum of 7 years accounting experience in a business setting, with at least 3 years in a managerial roleExperience within the life science industry requiredPrevious experience with accounting in a publicly traded company requiredSignificant Sarbanes Oxley compliance experience, 404b experience preferredStock option administration and Equity Edge / E*TRADE experience preferredKnowledge of GAAP accounting, financial statements, budgeting and forecasting, cash flows, and auditingExperience with global operations and consolidations preferredPrior experience in managing team members, including the ability to provide guidance, support and clear directionExcellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to present numeric data effectivelyExceptional listening, observational and problem-solving skillsExceptional time-management abilities and strong follow-through skills requiredExperience managing confidential informationExperience working in a fast-paced environment handling a wide range of tasks with little supervision or oversite requiredFriendly, team-oriented, collaborative, and can-do attitudeIntermediate-to-advanced computer and MS Office skills (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint) ; Experience with conference equipment/platformsAbout LongboardAt Longboard Pharmaceuticals, our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals battling profound neurological conditions.

    Pay TransparencyThe expected salary for candidates who work in La, Jolla, CA is $140,000-160,000.

    The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
